"We are all born mad, some of us remain so." S. Beckett
Sara and Toni have been working together as in Helvetica, improvising, devising and performing, for three years now. Over that time they have become quite attune to each other, and found they have a lot in common. But, they have also discovered that they grew up in very different communities. Sara lived a regimented and strict life in a Roman Ballet Academy, whilst Toni lived in a house with two families consisting of twelve children in the farm lands of regional South Australia. The idea for A Memory of the Future is to use the uncommonality of their youth, how we grew up, what was special to us and why, this space of difference, as stimulus for an improvised movement based performance. The performance is accompanied by live sound by Gene, a recent addition to the in Helvetica family.
Performed as part of Circling the Brink, Pave Festival 2017.
